Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that flammable materials were stored in the hotel. Various questions have been raised about the hotel's firefighting system. Fire DG Ranbir Kumar went to the spot on Wednesday and It was said that the hotel's 'fire license' expired three years ago. After that, the hotel authorities did not renew it. Although the hotel had a fire extinguishing system, it was not working at the time of the fire. The initial assessment of the fire department is that the fire extinguishing system was not functional at all in the hotel. Fire Minister Sujit Basu said that the 'fire alarm' did not sound in the hotel during the fire.

After initial investigation, fire officials believe that plywood work was going on on the second floor of the hotel. And the fire and smoke spread from the second floor. As the smoke gradually rose higher, the residents living on the third or fourth floor could not go down to the hotel. This raises the question of why the smoke could not escape through the windows on the upper floors. The hotel does not have a central air conditioning system or central AC. Despite this, the question is why most of the windows were closed.

The fire department has also filed a complaint with the police station against the hotel authorities.
